The School
This school was established in 2011, by Prasanna Thothadri, a leading Indo-Canadian dancer, choreographer and a teacher.
The dance school is dedicated to preserve the art and culture by passing to the next generations, the traditions and values of ancient Indian classical dance form, Bharatanatyam.
The school offers:
Classes are conducted for beginners/novices and experts. Adults are given lessons to relieve their stress and to develop focus and better coordination. Simultaneously they learn simple steps to famous semi-classical and classical songs. The students are also taught Indian mythology through simple stories. Experts are given special training in abhinaya, nattuvangam and choreography. The school also trains students in Carnatic vocal music.
The students are given a great deal of opportunities to perform in front of an august audience during every festival/event organised by the community and the school.
Age requirements:
We strongly advocate the minimum age to enroll the kids as 5. It helps in a better communication between the teacher and the student as the school believes that the guru-shishya relationship is the fulcrum in learning the art.
Dress code:
Uniforms are recommended to bring a sense of unity and tradition.
